Migratory Birds

To comply with federal law, Twisted Bones Taxidermy must ensure that all incoming waterfowl are appropriately tagged. The tagging requirement states that no person can leave any migratory game birds at any location, except for their personal abode or with a person for the purpose of picking, cleaning, processing, shipping, transportation, or storage, including temporary storage, or for taxidermy services, unless the birds have a tag attached. This tag must be signed by the hunter and state their address, the total number and species of birds, and the date they were harvested. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has implemented the following laws:

  • Migratory game birds being transported in any vehicle as personal baggage are not considered to be in storage or temporary storage.

  • No person can receive or have in custody any migratory game birds belonging to another person unless they are properly tagged.

  • No person can transport migratory game birds belonging to another person unless they are properly tagged.
